I've downloaded and installed the VMware Server Beta (free) on a Windows Server 2003 host system. the host is 100% OK as far as I know, it's a Wintel P4 systems.
the VMware install seems to be OK.
I've downloaded Fedora Core 4 (i386 version for 32 bit) in CD ISO's and configured VMware to read the first ISO as a virtual CD.
the install starts up:
probe for video card: VMware
probe for monitor type: unknown monitor
probe for mouse type: generic - 3 button mouse
attempting to start native x server
waiting for server to start... log located at /tmp/x.log (it's empty, I checked)
1... 2... 3... 4... 5.. x server started successfully.
mini-wm: Fatal IO error 104 (connection reset by peer) on X server :1.0.[/i]
--> can anyone explain what is going wrong?
--> I read that "VMware Tools" can help in many IO problems but it can't be installed until the guest OS is installed - and the guest install is not working as you see...
please help.
