"Failed to lock the file" with clone

hi,

I created 3 guest OSs, G1, G2, G3 with vmware workstation 5.5 with linked clone. (G3->G2->G1)

G2 link-cloned from G1

G3 link-cloned from G2

I moved those 3 guest OSs to vmware server. every thing runs very well! after a month, my e:\ is running out (where those G1, G2, G3 were).

I added a new Harddisk and move all those G1, G2, G3 to the new harddisk which is h:

Then, only G1 works now, G2, and G3 don't work at all! it gives me "Failed to lock the file" when I try to run those OS.

I try to go to G2 and G3's virtual harddisk and defrag those, I got "failed to retrieve disk information for... The parent of this virtual disk could not be opened"

if I want to make all three work. I must move G1 and G2 back to e:\ and leave G3 in H:\. it doesn't have HD space problem and not linking problem...

is there any way I can fix the linking problme so I can move all guest OS to h:\? I heard people said modify small *.vmdk will fix the problem but all my vmdk are huge. nothing less than 5kB
