Time is incorrect on VM running Linux kernel 2.6

I have two VM one is running SuSE 9.2 and another running RedHat AS 4.0 both have kernel version of 2.6.  On these VMs the time get slow and is off by hours. 

An example:  I change my time by using the time command at 6:00 AM CST.  Two hours later I logon and check the time on the VM and it’s off by over an hour.

I’m running VMWARE GSX 3.1 hosted on Linux RedHat AS 3.0 2.4.21-27.0.2.
