I have a Dell PowerEdge 2900 with 24 GB of RAM and a 3.2 GHZ dual core Xeon processor for now to add a 2nd Xeon processor later. There are 4 - 146 GB, SAS, 15K RPM hard drives in a RAID 5 configuration.
I am looking for Best practices information regarding optimizing the configuration of this server as a host for VMware server running 4 or five guest servers.
I plan to create a 40 GB partition for the OS and Active Directory installation, a 36 GB partition for the page file, and a third partition of 130 GB size for the VMware server environment.
