Bridged networking problems

Hey all.  I'm having some problems with bridged networking on in VMWare Server 1.0.0 build 28343.  I have the following setup:

Host:

Windows XP Pro SP2 (32-bit)

Athlon64 X2 3800

3 GB RAM

Onboard ethernet (for ULi's socket939 chipset)

Guest1:

Gentoo Linux

512 MB RAM

Bridged networking

Guest2:

Windows XP Pro SP2 (32-bit)

384 MB RAM

Bridged networking

Guest 1 was up and running for about two weeks, but then the bridged networking suddenly stopped working.  This is the dreaded tech support "but I didn't change anything!" question; I went to work one morning, came home, and I had no connectivity from the guest.

Thinking there may be something wrong with Guest 1, and knowing that I needed a Windows guest anyway, I set up Guest 2.  Bridged networking didn't work there either.

Host-only networking is fine, and I haven't tried NAT.  Guest 1 can ping itself, the host, and Guest 2.  Guest 2 can ping itself and the host, but not Guest 1.  Neither host can ping the gateway or any other computer on the network, and neither guest can see my DHCP server (I had to bring the connections up manually to ping anything).

I have tried two different routers, so I know that isn't an issue.  After reading the forum, I tried removing the MAC and UUIDs from the .vmx file, but that didn't help.  I have no firewall (besides the router, and I can't ping the router anyway).

Possible conflicts:  I have a wireless card installed, but I didnt install the drivers, and Windows can't even see it, so I doubt it's an issue.

I had some VPN software installed, but I removed it thinking it might be causing a problem.  Didn't help.

I thought about reinstalling Windows, but I figured I'd see if anyone here had any better ideas.  Thanks!
