/dev/vmnet* gets deleted on reboot

I have a GSX host with the following strange error: I set up vmnet0 to eth0, vmnet2 to eth1, both bridged. There are two client systems, both using vmnet5 to speak to each other.

Now sometimes during reboot of the host, /dev/vmnet* devices all except 0 and 2 get deleted, which causes the connection between the two clients to not work anymore.

What can I do to keep vmnet5 from being deleted all the time? I don't want nat or something, it's really just for the two VMware clients to communicate.
