GSX 3.2
Host: Windows 2003 Enterprise SP1
Guest: Windows 2003 Standard SP1
We recently had an issue where apparently the Guest OS crashed, but the vmware-vmx process did not end. Therefore, the virtual disk still had a lock that could not be removed, which prevented us from restarting the VM.
The GSX console and VirtualCenter both showed the VM in an off state, even though the process was still running. We finally killed the vmware-vmx process and were allowed to delete the .lck file and restart the VM.
Does anyone have any ideas why the guest OS would stop, all the tools recognize this fact, but the actual vmware-vmx process not stop?
