Can't access host from guest without cable

Just been testing beta3 with a Win2K3 as a guest on a Fedora5 host and noticed that I can't even ping the host until I plug in the ethernet cable.

Now I'm sure I could do this before using Workstation and possibly beta2.

Surely VMWare can tell that the address is the host machine so route packets locally rather than over the cable?

I've tried changing my routing and gateway to no avail. I've tried re-running vmware-config.pl and I've tried bridging the wireless card too.

Do I have to enable host-only networking too (or NAT?)? Wouldn't that require the guest to have another NIC configured?

Essentially I want Win2K3 to be able to test websites on my FC5 server when I'm on the move (without a router nearby).

Any ideas what's wrong?
