Disks larger than 256GB

Hi all,

I've been trawlng the docs which make it very clear that vmware server does not support virtual disks larger than 128GB (IDE) and 256GB (SCSI).  I need to mount a 350GB data partition, ideally on the present win32 host.

This win32 host has a 400GB drive split into 2 partitions, 50GB for the OS, VMWare+Applications and 350GB for data.

I am happy to mount the 350GB partition natively (raw) but I just read that SATA is not supported under win32.

So, first is this true or is there a workaround to getting it going under winXP?

Is it okay under Linux?  If so I might have to swap this host over to Suse 10.1

My disk is SATA, but if advisable I can run out and get a replacement 400GB EIDE one.

What do you people do when you have to mount big partitions in vmware?

Many thanks in advance for any sage advice/suggestions...
