Hello,
Can anyone please help.
I have an ext3 vmdk (happens to be a bootable centos install) which has:-
\- maximum size of 40GB
\- current size of 13GB and
\- when running centos, the df command shows that only 2GB is being used.
Host is xp.
I would like to reduce its size to a maximum of 5GB or copy it to a vmdk with a max size of 5GB - obviously with no loss of data and have it still bootable.
Partition Magic 8.0 did not help, neither did paragon disk manager 6.0.
I have not tried parted and won't unless I get feedback from someone who has successfully reduced the size of an ext3 parition.
I think the right way to proceed is to make a backup, convert the partition to ext2, then use any of the tools mentioned to reduce the partition size and then convert it back to ext3.
Any informed comments welcome.
Hal
