Many Questions...

Ok.

I plan to build a new machine - x2-4800 with 4gb ram.

I currently run win2k on an amd athlon 3000+

Trying to understand VMware, it seems to me that I have to install a 64bit host operating system to realize the full benefit of the hardware.  Given that assumption, I'll probably load SUSE 10.1 64bit as the host. (primarily because I have friends who are quite familiar with that OS and how it all works...).

So, my questions are:  What would be the best way to migrate my existing Win2K OS to be a client OS?  The Win2k is configured currently with OS on C, Apps on D.

What type of drive should I put the host OS on?  Would a 100gb SATA be a good target for the host?

I also understand that the client OS will run better if it's installed to use HARDware drive, not 'virtual' drive.  Is that true?  If so, no problem I can pop another bigger drive in there...

My main goal is to truely migrate my existing OS install .... it's been working with me / for me for 3 years - lots of stuff installed, configured the way I like, etc.

But I also want to validate my assumptions.  Will I be able to play games on this using my 8x AGP graphics card? -- i.e. will Oblivion still play?
