Host OS: XP 32 bit. 1GB ram
Host VM memory setting: strict ram allocation (i.e. no vmware paging)
Guest OS 1: Windows 2003 64 bit. Allocated 128MB ram. running.
Guest OS 2: Windows 2003 64 bit. Allocated 544MB ram. errors on startup with VMware message about 64 bit switch as above.
Memory allocated to VMware: 846MB.
128+544=672.
Overheads of more than 174MB? How can I determine how much memory I need to remove from the guest, or add to the host, before this will start?
\[if I switch back to allowing some vm memory to page then it'll start fine, but I want to avoid vm paging...]
I'm suspecting that the host is chewing up memory but the output of the error isn't scientific (i.e. of any use) since it's not telling me how much memory I need to have free... or whether the host memory slider isn't able to take as much memory as offered, or... well.. anything. What I'm trying to achieve is to get as much physical memory allocated to my VM as possible.
Thanks
