I have been trying to create a VM for Windows 2003 Server R2 x64. VMware documentation on what is required to run a 64bit VM is incomplete, vague and misleading. I installed Windows 2003 Server SP1 and VMware Server, and that didn't work. I installed Windows 2003 Server R2 x64 and VMware Server, and that didn't work. I tried installing an evaluation of Infrastructure 3, but it doesn't have a driver for the ICH7 SATA controller (how more ubiquitous can you get?) on the MB.
So, now I think that the problem is that my processor doesn't support VT[/b].
I have a 945G chipset and an Intel Pentium 4 640 (EM64T). If I replace it with a Pentium D 940 (VT[/b], EM64T), install Windows 2003 Server R2 x64, and install VMware Server 1.0.1, will I be able to create a VM to install Windows 2003 Server R2 x64?
