Hardware USB Dongle (iKey 1000)

Hello everybody.

I have a big problem, cause I should test a programm that uses the FREngine from Abbyy for OCR, which needs an iKey 1000 USB Hardware Dongle.

- Server Version : VMWare Server 1.0.1

\- Host OS : Windows 2000 Professional + SP2

\- Guest OS : Windows 2000 Professional + SP2

\- VMWareTools installed

\- Guest and Host both have same OS and configurations

I tried if it works on the host system to ensure that the configuration of the program that uses the FREngine is configured well and everything works fine there. I also tried to solve the problem due the configuration of the *.vmx file and searched the forum for posts that have similar problems but it doesn't solve my problem :(. So I don't get it working on the guest OS and don't know why. The iKey USB dongle is recognized and activated:

VM -> Removeable Devices -> USB Devices -> Rainbow Technologies USB device (Port 1).

Also the iKeyFinder tool I've got due a SR from Abbyy finds the dongle under guest OS, here is the report from the Finder:

ikey_OpenDevice()...Success

Status 00 - iKey 1000 Found!!!

Diagnostics complete. Device working within normal parameters

I am a newbie to the VMWare Virtualization products and don't know how to solve the problem.

Thanks for any helpful comments to solve this problem.

Sorry for my bad english.

kind regards

Timm Lippold
