Under Windows, it's not clear to me what impact if any enabling Client Network and File & Printer Sharing has on the Virtual network adapters VMNet1, VMNet8, etc. I understand that VMNet1 is for NAT and VMNet8 is for a private network between VMs and the host.
If I want to use VM Workstation's Shared Folders feature, can this be done without enabling Microsoft file sharing through the File & Print Sharing checkbox on the adapter? I want to be able to disable the server service on the host computer but still have some way to share files with the virtual machines that reside on the host.
