Hi there everyone, I hope someone out there can help me. This is my first post on here and I'm sorry that it's because of a problem.
The issue I am having has been baffling me now for at least a week. I have a GSX 3.2.1 server (which was a 3.2 server about 3 days ago until I upgraded it thinking it might fix my problem) running on a Redhat 3 ES QU4. I have created a virtual machine and changed the group ownership of the directory that the vm is installed in and all files (vmx, vmdk, etc) to a group of users who will need to access this vm and be able to connect their local client cd-rom drive so that they can install software from the comfort of their own desks. However when they try to connect the cd-rom once they have powered up the vm it comes back with a "permission denied" message and fails to connect up the cd-rom. This also happens for the floppy drive.
The permissons on the vmx file for the group is r+x, which I believe is correct for what I am trying to achieve. The group also has the same permissions on the directory that contains all of the vm files.
Basically what I am trying to achieve is to give my users a vm without giving them god access as I do not trust them with the vm settings.
I have been through the "GSX Server 3 - Administration Guide" a few times now and think I have followed everything in there to the letter.
Has anyone got any ideas what may be happening or what I have done wrong? Any help would be very much appreciated as I am slowly running out of hair to pull out.
Many thanks.
