too many vmdk files - and in wrong place

Hi everybody!

I am using the latest build of vmware server on a w2k3 server. I have three w2k3 guests. The host has a raid1 for the os and the vms, and a raid5 for the data. I have added the datadiscs to a vm, and placed them on the raid5. BUT! There are copies of the discs called >name<-000001-s001.mdk ...s002.vmdk and so on in the folder of the vms. When I copy data to one of the discs, the sice of the disc on the raid1 increases, not the on on the raid5. This is not the way it is supposed to be This is also a performance issue. In addition the raid1 is only 100GB, and the raid5 500GB.

Has anyone an idea of how to get rid of this? I don't want these damn temporary discs.

thanks for your help,

Andreas
