Guest resume script in vmware tools (for winxp)

I have trouble with the default resume script in vmware tools.

Suspend and Resume works fine if you run the commands in the MUI. However if you run a standby command within the XP guest it will not resume properly after that.   The standby command causes no error except when you try to resume it (which apparently needs to be activated by pressing resume in the MUI):

Ths script simply calls 'VMip.exe" -release[/b]

Whilst important (as it changes the IP address of the resuming Guest to avoid conflicts with machines that may have picked up the same IP lease stored on board the resuming Guest OS)

Here is this error;

The VMware Tools resume script did not run successfully in this virtual machine. Iy you have configured a custom resume script in this virtual machine.[/i]

Sounds like a plan. to me...

To get the Guest running again you have to acknowledge the error, else the Guest will standby again after a minute or so.  No amount of reboots of Guest and Host will result in a Guest that runs until you acknowledge the error else it will simply suspend again.

1. Is there something I can add ot this script to stop it from halting the starting of the Guest OS

2. What does VMip.exe do that could be in inappropriate in this case?

Many thanks in advance,

Pluto
