Multiple VMDK Files???

I am pretty new to VMWARE Server coming over from the Virtual Server Camp. I have installed VMWARE Server Beta 1 onto a Windows 2003 Server, and an running as Guest OS's Windows 2003 Small Business Server and Windows 2003 Server R2 setup with Terminal Services.

My question is as follows:

I have setup the SBS OS as a 30GB fixed size VMDK. I see this file in the Folder as Windows 2003 SBS-flat.vmdk and it is roughly 30GB. I also see another file; Windows 2003 SBS-0002.vmdk that is roughly 3.5GB and another Windows 2003 SBS-0003.vmdk that is roughly 26GB.

What is going on here? I have checked and I do not have any saved snapshots. The -flat file has a last modified date of 3/15/06, and the -0002 & -0003 files are marked as last being used today. If I go into the Virtual Machine Settings and look at the Hard Disk it says that the file is the -0003.vmdk file.

I do not want to run the risk of losing anythin, but if it is not being used I can recoup 30GB of space. If this runs rampant it will eat up all my hard drive space.

I guess I am wondering how this file was created in the first place. My other VM the Windows 2003 R2 guest OS does not exhibit these symptoms.

Please help!!!
