I'm planning on running a production domain controller in a VM environment. I figure there's all sorts of implications with doing so (i.e. snapshots) due to the nature of Active Directory. In my research I found the following MS KB item: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888794.
This document outlines several considerations for running a domain controller in a virtual environment. One of the first things it mentions is the use of FUA inside the SCSI emulation. Does VMWare support this? If not, how would I disable the caching on the disk, via the guest OS or via the host itself?
Obviously snapshotting the VM is also out of the question.
Does anyone have any experience with this and the possible issues that can arise (i.e. USN rollback issues)? I almost fear running this VM domain controller as there seems to be a lot to consider and a lot of room to cause major issues.
Thank you,
Matthew
