Invalid virtual machine

I created several virtual machines on an older server we had here while waiting for new hardware to arrive.  Once the new hardware was here, I copied over the VM folders to the new system.

Problem is, they now won't run.  I've tried double-clicking on the vmdk file and I get the "Invalid virtual machine" error.  If I try to open it from within VMServer's console, same thing.  I've also tried to create a new VM pointing at my copied vmdk.  When I point the new VM at the existing disk, it says "Failed to retrieve disk information for "C:\Virtual Machines\QualityTitan\Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition.vmdk"    VMDB failure.

Both servers (creator host and new host) were/are running VMServer, version 1.0.1, build 29996.  Both copies of VMServer have valid licenses entered.  I'm at a loss here.  Any suggestions?
