Failed to retrieve disk information for... VMDB failure.

I recently moved my Virtual Machines from Fedora Core 5 to Windows XP 64 bit.  Other than locking up after starting HAL, everything went smoothly.  (HAL  lockup was resolved by switching the client (FC 5) to DHCP)

I understand that XP 64 bit is not  server and therefore not supported.  However, I have seen several postings indicating that it seems to work.  If possible I would like to get this configuration working.

When I create a new Virtual Machine and add a hard disk I get the error:

VMware Server

Failed to retrieve disk information for

"C:\Virtual Machines\....vmdk":

VMDB failure.

Everything "seems" to run okay in the virtual machine.  What is causing the error and do I need to be concerned about it?

The host machine runs XP 64bit on an Athlon FX-57 with 4 Gigs RAM; the hard drive is a Maxtor 6L250R0 ATA/133 with DMA enabled.

Thanks

-Julian
