A guest OS is experiencing slow performance when running SQL intensive jobs.
Scenario:
\- Host server HP Proliant 380G3 / dual 2.8 xeon / Win2k AS SP4 / 6GB Ram
\- Guest Win2k Srv SP4 MS-SQL2000
Hyperthreading is enabled, resulting in 4 virtual CPUs.
Guest OS is set to use virtual disks (SCSI).
The virtual machine take forever to complete the SQL job, with CPU usage very high.
With such low performance, we may have to revisit our plan to deploy more VMware systems.
Do you think disabling Hyperthreading would affect performance at all ?
Would the use of plain disk help ?
Last, we use bridge networking. Is there a better way to handle things ?
Thank you,
Remy
