I have a Pentium 4 running Windows 2000pro and an 8Gig Vmware Virtual Machine partition which is running Windows XP Home Edition.
I need to run the Logitech Quickcam on the Windows XP local host so that it can provide me with a video conferencing service through Skype.
Skype will not provide video streaming on Windows 2000 -- only XP.
I can install Quickcam on the Windows 2000 host and it operates perfectly with either Image Studio (is730enu.exe) or QuickCam (9c848enu.exe).
However, on the Windows XP local host, it will not show an image on either software -- the software opens, a message in the camera box says "Wait while camera is started", then it goes to a dark grey.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling many times, and also every driver installation I can find, but the camera will not operate. There is no problem with the USB port (com2). It's installed on that port on Windows 2000, and works, is activated on that port on Windows XP, but doesn't work. Anyone got any ideas?
