Hello.

I installed and configured VMware Server 1.0.1 with only host-only network.

My vmnet1 interface was assigned 192.168.159.1/24 as follows

spirit:/home/vmware # ifconfig vmnet1

vmnet1    Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 00:50:56:C0:00:01

          inet addr:192.168.159.1  Bcast:192.168.159.255  Mask:255.255.255.0

          inet6 addr: fe80::250:56ff:fec0:1/64 Scope:Link

UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST  MTU:1500  Metric:1

          RX packets:1 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0

          TX packets:9 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0

          collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000

          RX bytes:0 (0.0 b)  TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)

/code

so then, I ping to 192.168.159.254. No host has this IP address, but an arp replys from somewhere.

spirit:/home/vmware # arp -a

spirit:/home/vmware # ping 192.168.159.254

PING 192.168.159.254 (192.168.159.254) 56(84) bytes of data.

\--- 192.168.159.254 ping statistics ---

3 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 1999ms

spirit:/home/vmware # arp -a

? (192.168.159.254) at 00:50:56:E5:86:AC \[ether] on vmnet1

/code

I don't know what is matter.

If you would like to answer this problem. please teach me.

Thanks.
