I am having slow performance when running Windows XP 32 bit SP2 under VMware Server 1.0. In particular, the mouse tracking seems to really lag. I do not have this problem with Windows Server 2003 Enterprise 32 bit guests on the same server. It's hard to control the guest because I have to wait for the mouse to catch up all the time.
Server:
Two processor, dual core, 2.66 GHz, Intel EM64T with VT (Intel Woodcrest platform)
4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 memory (1333 MHz FSB)
SATA Boot drive and 8 SCSI drives (each VM has it's own HD)
Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition x64 w/SP1
VMware Server 1.0 - 28343
I have added the line in the VMX files for all guests - sched.mem.pshare.enable=false
I did a clean install of a new Windows XP SP2 guest from an ISO CD image and installed VMware tools to make sure it wasn't an issue with an y VMs I imported from older VMware products.
Has anyone else seen this issue? It's almost impossible to work with Windows XP guests this way.
