Vista - NIC's stuck in Local Only mode

I installed VS 1.0.1 build 29996 with no errors on Vista RC1 build 5600.

I have started my old Win2k3 guest OS, and confirmed that it has internet access, and devices on the LAN can see the guest OS too.

What it can't do is communicate with it's Vista host.  No pings, no nothing.

Vista seems to have placed the two VMWare Network Adapters into an 'Unidentified network', which is labelled "Access to Local only" by Vista.  My host's physical NIC is labelled "Access to Local and Internet".

I'm guessing that if I can configure vista to put the VMWare nics in the same category as the physical nic, it may work.  What I find strange though is that the guest OS can access everything but[/i] the local host.

Any ideas how I resolve this?

FYI, the VM guest nic is configured as 'Bridged: Connected directly to the physical network'.
