Ok so I upgraded my test machine to VMware Server Beta RC1 the other day. Standared upgrade nothing big. But now when I turn on my existing windows machines I am getting "NTLDR is missing" They are stock images I have of windows 2000 server. I figured the update must have changed some hardware so I gave a new install of windows server 2003 a try. After installing now 3 times I get the NTLDR missing error after several reboots of the guest. (install, reboot, config, reboot= missing NTLDR) I googled a bit and searched the VMTN groups with no luck. Anyone else having issues with there guests lossing this file?
Guest is SCSI disk, Tried stock driver and the extra driver you can download. Tried the F6 at install to add disk driver etc..
HOST is
WinXP 64bit
VMWare Server Beta RC1
2 gigs of ram
2x250 HD in raid 0
Athlon 64 3200+
Guest is
Win 2003 server
2 SCSI disks enabled
CDROM
FLOPPY
2x ethernet
USB
1 Proc
512 ram
other guest
same as above with win2k
I have used about 4 other version of the VMware Server beta and never had this issue. This is the only 64 bit proc I have and was the first to upgrade to RC1, I have held off upgradeing my other servers(x86 32bit xeon's) until I can get some more info about this. It may be isolated to this platform.
Cheers,
Koplin
