Hi all.
I am facing problems starting Windows XP as guest OS in VMWare Server Beta. My host OS is Linux (Debian Etch) with Grub as boot loader. Windows is installed on its own partition, so that I can start it stand-alone. In other words, I have a dual-boot scenario.
What I have done so far: Under Windows, I have created a hardware profile which should be used for booting Windows in VMWare. To create the new hardware profile, I followed the instructions in . Preparing the system for dual-boot, I followed the instructions in .
After finishing the installation of the virtual machine, I start the virtual machine. After starting windows in the Grub boot loader screen, a screen with the different hardware profiles appears. There, I choose the hardware profile I created for VMWare.
The result of this is a blue screen telling that a 0x0000007B error occured and the boot process is stopped. If I boot Windows natively (without VMWare), it starts without any errors. Searching for solutions for this error, I found . But patching the registry did not help. I still cannot boot Windows due to the 0x0000007B error.
Does anybody have an idea how to solve this?
