Quad core Xeon, VMWare and multithreading etc....

Can anyone advise how Virtual Server (that is multiple VMs) will respond/behave on Server 2003 Enterprise 64bit using quad core Xeons.

Specficially, each VM is NOT multithread capable across ALL CPUs in the host hardware - right?

Each VM can only access maximum of two CPUs (specified in the VMs settings - either 1 or 2) and that VM's OS will distribute processes across those CPUs)

But, how if one has 8 CPUs (via 2x Quadcore) does one specify which of the 8 each VM will use - other than by editing the process via Task Manager after the VM has been started - not really acceptable as aside from anything else VMware (still) doesn't identify which process is which virtual machine!

Any thoughts/insight into VMWare Server's multithreading/CPU handing would be most welcome... essentially - are 8 slightly slower CPUs better than 4 faster ones?!

Thanks all.
