I've read that the lack of segmentation support in non-VT EMT64 processors will keep VMWare Server from being able to run a 64-bit guest OS. Can someone explain (in laymans terms) why this is the case when even a 'lowly' P4 processor can run 32-bit virtualization just fine.
Thanks - I guess I'm looking for some kind of reason why this is the case - especially when there are likely LOTS of 64-bit procs out there today that will not be able to run 64-bit gues OS's, despite being able to run 64-bit software and operating systems natively just fine.
Is this (the lack of VT) a glaring ommission on Intel's part or what? Seems like they took a step backwards.
