Hello,
Host: Win2003 Server Std Edition
Guest: Windows 2000Pro or WinXP Corporate Editin SP2(tried on both)
Networking: NAT, all default settings.
DHCP DNS settings: 2 manually defined working DNS servers.
2 things, first (less important).
Problem #1:
When I tracert something in the world from host I get:
\----
5 31 ms 73 ms 31 ms 64.159.1.2
6 32 ms 32 ms 32 ms 4.68.121.47
7 32 ms 32 ms 31 ms cpr2-gigabitethernet3-2.VirginiaEquinix.savvis.net \[208.173.52.77]
8 32 ms 32 ms 32 ms bpr1-so-4-0-0.VirginiaEquinix.savvis.net \[206.24.227.62]
9 32 ms 32 ms 32 ms beyond-the-network.VirginiaEquinix.savvis.net \[208.173.50.246]
10 32 ms 32 ms 32 ms ge5-3.colo01.ash01.pccwbtn.net \[63.218.44.81]
11 32 ms 32 ms 32 ms 63.217.26.189
\----
When I tracert the same remote server from my guest, I get:
\----
1 <10 ms <10 ms <10 ms 192.168.220.2
2 31 ms 31 ms 32 ms 63.217.26.189
\----
Only 2 hopes! What does that mean, is that normal, how to fix this?
Problem #2 (serious):
From guest OS: When I try to scan something outside OR connet to something through SOCKS or to SOCKS/PROXY server itself I get "Unable to connect to SOCKS proxy server" from the software I'm using. The system's perfomance monitor counts lots of TCP error with the following counters:
TCP: Connection Failures
TCP: Connections Reset
Other counters, including erros on virtual NIC, seem to be fine.
When I scan the same thing from host OS, everything works fine. Pings works perfectry from both OSes.
Please help me out. I really have no idea what ccan caouse such problems and I already tried many things.
Bonus question: Is it possbile to configure VMWare to use native Window's NAT, not built in NAT service?
