no valid devices were found on which to create new file systems

Recently I started having trouble installing CentOS 4.3 guests on my VMware server.  The VMware server host is running CentOS 4.3.  I keep getting this error  when I am prompted in the “Disk Partitioning Setup” screen to partition the disks:

“An error has occurred – no valid devices were found on which to create new file systems.  Please check your hardware for the cause of this problem.”

I get the error  regardless of whether I choose automatic partitioning or manual.  I am getting the error from interactive installations as well as kickstart installations.   I was not getting the errors a few days ago and changed nothing on the server or the kickstart files.  I was using the beta version 27828.   I got frustrated, so I installed the General Availability release yesterday, but am still getting the same errors.

I am not seeing this error installing SUSE SLES 9.

Can you please help?  Thank you in advance for your help.

Best Regards,

Jeff Thayer
