Netware 4.11 network driver help

I have a migration coming up where I want to pull an existing netware 4.11 server into vmware.  To prepare for this I am trying to do a fresh install of 4.11 in a virtual machine.

The fresh install goes fine, except I CANNOT get network connectivity.  4.11 automatically finds the CNE2000 (I believe, or something similar) on slot 3.   I have changed that to the recommended pcntnw.lan driver, with what I believe are the proper settings.   (It automatically finds them, or I have manually configured them/bound them).    It appears to be happy with the driver and I load ipx/tcpip, and it can ping itself, but nothing on the network can ping it.  I cannot connect to it via ipx via a client on a network.

I tried all the tricks I read here, including the set allow duplicate Ip=on

I have upgraded to sp9 (which includes newer pcntnw drivers) but it yields the same results.  It appears happy, can ping itself, but can't ping out, and no one can ping it.   I have also tried getting the latest pcntnw drivers from amd (specifically for nw4/nw5) and it produces the same results.

the network adaptor is set to bridged.

My next step is to add a virtual machine with the netware client to see if it can see the server from there.   I am wondering if it is something with my vmserver or local network?  From what I read it appears this process of adding this nic driver is straight forward.

Can anyone be kind enough to post their startup.ncf  network commands from a netware 4.11 (or similar, 4.10, 4.2? etc) so I can copy them exactly.  If you do have 4.11 running, I would really like to hear from you!

Any other help is greatly appreciated!

Jon
